Overview
Engineered an export-focused B2B agricultural commodity catalogue for Kugoriental, displaying premium spice grades (cardamom, pepper, cloves) with detailed moisture/origin specifications and container-load inquiry options.
The Problem
Retail-focused e-commerce plugins were mismatched for bulk agricultural export, creating confusing consumer checkout buttons instead of bulk trade quote inquiries and commodity specification sheets.
The Solution
Configured WooCommerce in lightweight B2B catalogue mode, replacing cart/checkout flows with volume-based RFQ actions, certificate downloads, and custom taxonomy filters for organic certifications and grading scales.
Delivery Parameters
Project Constraints
₹35,000 fixed milestone budget
3 weeks prior to Gulfood Dubai international trade exhibition
Legacy unmaintained cPanel hosting and chaotic unstructured product PDFs
Configured WooCommerce in strict headless/catalogue mode instead of installing heavyweight commercial B2B suites. Replaced standard cart and checkout controllers with a custom ACF Pro quote specification engine and asynchronous inquiry modal. Stripped WooCommerce block CSS, deployed WebP imagery, and configured Redis object caching behind Cloudflare edge cache rules.
Key Features
Engineering Obstacles
Challenges Overcome
Restructuring default WooCommerce checkout templates without breaking core product taxonomy relationships.
Optimizing high-resolution crop photos to maintain fast browsing for buyers on varied international networks.
Verification & Impact
Results & Verification
Reduced mobile 4G load time by stripping unused WooCommerce block stylesheets and enabling Redis object caching.
Initial page payload reduced via WebP compression and critical CSS inlining.
Direct WhatsApp RFQ routing pre-populated with product grade and packaging selections.
Facilitated container-load trade inquiries following the Dubai trade expo.
Rather than relying on WooCommerce core tables for pure catalog data, I would now build the commodity listing directly in a lightweight headless custom post type with static generation (like TanStack Start or Astro) and Supabase backend. This would completely eliminate MySQL relational overhead for static grade specifications while delivering sub-100ms TTFB globally.
